Week 2 -Potential

Updated: Aug 26

Welcome to Week 2

If you like to know what’s ahead, here’s a quick preview of the concepts we’ll explore this week. Prefer a little mystery? Feel free to jump straight into the next card; Exploration.

The theme of Week 2 across the 6 wellness pillars is;

POTENTIAL.

What is it?

Potential is having or showing the capacity to develop into something in the future. As we continue the journey, now is a great time to do some exploration and see what kinds of opportunities and interesting things could be possibilities for you. What could your future hold?

An overview of this week's concepts.

  • Exploration. This is connected to vocational wellness.

  • What opportunities in the workforce match your skills and interests?

  • Is there something you are really skilled at doing that could make you money?

  • Curiosity. This is connected to intellectual wellness.

  • What are some really cool things you would like to try doing?

  • Is there a place you always wanted to visit?

  • Ask questions, research answers.

  • Fear. This is connected to emotional wellness.

    • Fear is natural and vital to survival. Do not work to eliminate it.

    • Manage and leverage it to your advantage (courage)

    • Start understanding and addressing things that you fear.

  • Optimism. This is connected to spiritual wellness.

    • Are you a glass is "half full" or "half empty" kind of person?

    • Optimism is a choice just like pessimism is.

    • Optimism fuels motivation, drive, grit, persistence and success. Pessimism does not.

  • Self-esteem. This is connected to social wellness.

    • Social media, keyboard warriors (aka; cowardly trolls) and miserable people may be motivated to attack your self-esteem. This is because it requires less effort to drag you down to their level than to put the effort in to address their own flaws and try to improve. It is often less about you and a reflection of their own unhappiness.

    • People can't control you when you turn off or walk away from the source.

  • Genetics. This is connected to physical wellness.

    • The genes passed down from our parents provide us with both talents and difficulties that make life easier or more challenging.

    • It is healthier to accept what strengths and weaknesses that we have been given and use those as a starting point to build from. Celebrate what makes you uniquely you. You were made exactly as intended and with a purpose (even if you haven't discovered it yet).

  • Rest/Reflection Day. Take a break or complete one of the challenges you may have missed this week

    • Was there anything you learned this week from these challenges?

    • Were you inspired to dig a little deeper into any of these concepts?

    • Was there a concept that was particularly challenging or stood out to you in some way?

Keep going! You are making great progress You will start to see the concepts from previous weeks complimenting and building upon new concepts. You are creating the tools for your success across all of these areas of wellness dimensions.

Have a great week!
